In an intensified effort to combat drug trafficking, Srinagar Police have seized properties worth over ₹2 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers in the Chanapora and Qamarwari areas. The actions were carried out as part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.

Information reaching TahirRihat.com suggests that authorities are focusing on dismantling the financial networks that enable the drug trade in the region. The seized properties include residential houses believed to have been acquired through illicit proceeds from drug trafficking. The police are committed to eradicating drug abuse by targeting both offenders and illegally obtained assets.

The first action involved the attachment of a double-story residential house with an attic in Budshahnagar Chanapora. According to reports, the property, valued at approximately ₹1 crore, belongs to Huzaif Shabir Dar, son of Shabir Ahmad Dar. Dar is an accused in FIR No. 01/2024, registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Chanapora.

During the investigation, authorities established that the property was acquired through illicit funds generated from drug trafficking. Consequently, the property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act. Srinagar Police officials stated that the attachment proceedings were conducted strictly following legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses. The owner is now restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, or creating any third-party interest in the property until further orders.

In another significant action, a double-story residential house belonging to Basit Ahmad Baba, also known as Aikan, was attached in Qamarwari. Baba, son of Mohd Yousuf Baba and a resident of Barthana Qamarwari, is identified as a notorious drug peddler. The police took action under Section 68(F)(1) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached property, recorded in the name of Mohd Yousuf Baba, falls under Khasra No. 100 and is estimated to be worth more than ₹1 crore. The Srinagar Police have reiterated that these actions are part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting drug peddlers by targeting assets acquired through illegal narcotics trade.

These operations highlight the commitment of Srinagar Police to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking. Further, Srinagar Police have appealed to the general public for their cooperation, urging them to share information related to drug peddling and substance abuse. The aim is to build a safer and drug-free society through collective efforts and stringent legal actions against offenders. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to address drug-related issues in the region (KNC reported).

The Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan represents a multi-pronged approach to combating drug abuse. It involves not only law enforcement actions like property seizures but also awareness campaigns, rehabilitation programs, and community engagement initiatives. The campaign seeks to create a comprehensive ecosystem that discourages drug use, supports those seeking recovery, and holds accountable those involved in the illegal drug trade.

The attachment of properties sends a strong message to drug peddlers and their associates, demonstrating that law enforcement agencies are serious about targeting the financial gains derived from illegal activities. According to the police, this approach is crucial in disrupting the operations of drug networks and preventing them from continuing their illicit activities. By seizing assets acquired through drug trafficking, authorities aim to weaken the economic foundations of these networks and reduce their ability to finance further illegal operations.
