The Union Territory of Ladakh has taken a significant stride towards becoming a center for clean energy innovation and future-oriented technical education with the inauguration of its Centre of Excellence for Smart Energy and Electrical Systems. Located at the LREDA campus in Leh, the facility was officially opened by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena on Saturday, marking a pivotal moment for skill development in the region.

Furthermore, it will cover Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications, smart electrical systems, building management systems, and the integration of renewable energy technologies. The curriculum also extends to electric vehicle charging infrastructure and fire and safety automation, addressing a wide spectrum of modern technological needs.
During its initial phase, the Centre will offer specialized training programs tailored to the demands of the evolving energy and technology landscape. These programs will include in-depth training in electrical installation and maintenance, industrial automation, building management systems, SCADA and IIoT implementation, solar photovoltaic technologies, and comprehensive training in electric vehicle charging and energy management.
