Twenty National Cadet Corps (NCC) girl cadets, selected from across India, have successfully completed a demanding 30-day, 250-kilometer high-altitude trek in Ladakh. The expedition, dubbed ‘Aparajita-Parang La 2026’, culminated on Wednesday with the cadets traversing the formidable 5,578-meter Parang La Pass, a challenging route that links Himachal Pradesh’s Spiti Valley with the remote Changthang region of Ladakh.
This All India Girls High Altitude Long Trek, recognized as a flagship adventure activity of the NCC, commenced its arduous journey from Kibber in Himachal Pradesh and concluded in Karzok, Ladakh. Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the expedition was officially flagged off from Karzok by Director General NCC Lieutenant General Virendra Vats and Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dipti Mohil Chawla. The cadets navigated through exceptionally difficult high-altitude terrains, which included treacherous glaciers, expansive snowfields, and unforgiving river valleys, testing their physical and mental fortitude at every step.
The journey, however, had an earlier commencement point. The expedition was initially flagged off from New Delhi on August 18 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, underscoring the national significance and support for this initiative. Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, in his congratulatory remarks to the cadets and the accompanying staff, emphasized the profound impact of such strenuous activities. He stated that these endeavors are instrumental in fostering crucial leadership qualities, bolstering self-confidence, enhancing teamwork capabilities, and building resilience among the youth of the nation.
