Director General of Police (DGP) Anand Jain of Ladakh has initiated a significant motorcycle rally from the Union Territory of Ladakh to Gujarat, a journey spanning thousands of kilometers. The expedition, flagged off on Saturday, carries a dual message of national unity and the promotion of a drug-free India, aligning with the commemoration of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’. This initiative embodies the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,” reinforcing the Ladakh Police’s dedication to national integration, empowering the youth, and contributing to the collective endeavor of building a ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat,’ as stated by a police spokesperson. Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the rally aims to traverse diverse landscapes, connecting various states and Union Territories across the nation.
During their extensive expedition, the participating riders are scheduled to engage with young people and local communities in the states and Union Territories they will pass through. The objective of these interactions is to actively promote physical fitness, instill a sense of discipline, and advocate for a healthy, drug-free lifestyle among the populace. The Ladakh police chief, in his address, lauded the riders for their evident commitment and unwavering determination to undertake this challenging journey for a national cause. He further emphasized the crucial role that the youth play in the foundational development and progress of the nation. The DGP also took the opportunity to urge all citizens to unite and actively combat the pervasive menace of drug abuse that poses a significant threat to society.
In a separate but related development, the DGP also inaugurated a newly constructed Police Post Building situated at Choglamsar in Leh. The inauguration ceremony also included the unveiling of the Jawans’ barrack-cum-family quarters. This development marks a substantial step forward in bolstering the police infrastructure within the region and significantly improving the living and working facilities available to police personnel. The Police Post at Choglamsar, along with the associated accommodation facilities, was constructed under the Special Development Programme, with the National Projects Construction Corporation undertaking the project. The spokesperson confirmed that the completion of the Jawans’ Barrack and Family Quarters was also achieved under the same comprehensive scheme, indicating a coordinated effort in infrastructure enhancement.
The newly established infrastructure is anticipated to substantially enhance the operational capabilities of the Ladakh Police within the Choglamsar area. Furthermore, it is expected to provide much-improved accommodation facilities for the police personnel stationed there. The provision of adequate barrack and family quarters is seen as a critical factor in contributing to better living conditions for the personnel and their families. This, in turn, is expected to support their overall welfare, enabling them to discharge their official duties with greater effectiveness and dedication. The police department has reiterated its steadfast commitment to continuously strengthening its institutional capacity. This commitment is aimed at ensuring that policing across the Union Territory remains efficient, responsive to the needs of the public, and fundamentally people-centric in its approach to law enforcement and community service.
