Northern Railway has announced the introduction of special reserved trains and the extension of services on the New Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra route to accommodate the anticipated increase in passenger numbers during the upcoming festive season. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother travel for pilgrims and other passengers, thereby alleviating pressure on the regular train services operating along this busy corridor.
Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the special train services are designed to cater specifically to the heightened demand expected during periods of religious observance and holiday travel. The railway administration has strategically planned these additional services to ensure that devotees and travelers can reach their destinations comfortably and efficiently. The move underscores the importance of the Katra route, a vital link for those visiting the revered Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, and highlights the railway’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience during peak travel times.
One of the special services, identified as Train No. 04085, is scheduled to depart from New Delhi at 2:00 PM on October 15 and October 17. This train is expected to arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 3:00 AM the following day. The return journey for this service, Train No. 04086, will commence from Katra at 10:00 AM on October 16 and October 18, with its arrival in New Delhi slated for 11:30 PM on the same day. Similarly, Train No. 04082 will run from Katra between October 27 and November 7, also undertaking 12 trips. This extension of services demonstrates the railway’s responsiveness to evolving travel patterns and its dedication to meeting the needs of its passengers throughout the extended festive period.
The operational scope of these special trains encompasses a significant number of intermediate stations, ensuring connectivity and accessibility for a wider range of travelers. All the special services will make stops at Sonipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Ambala Cantonment, Dhandari Kalan, Jalandhar Cantonment, Pathankot Cantonment, Kathua, Jammu Tawi, and Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan (Udhampur) stations. These halts are strategically positioned to serve major towns and cities along the route, providing convenient boarding and alighting points for passengers from various regions. The inclusion of these stations in the itinerary further underscores the railway’s effort to maximize the reach and utility of these special services.
Railway officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, emphasized that the introduction of these additional services is a direct measure to facilitate smooth travel for pilgrims and other passengers during the festive season. They further stated that these special trains are expected to significantly reduce the pressure on the regular trains that are currently operating on the New Delhi-Katra route. This strategic deployment of resources aims to prevent overcrowding and ensure a more comfortable and secure travel experience for everyone. The proactive planning by Northern Railway reflects a deep understanding of passenger needs during periods of high demand and a commitment to operational excellence in serving the public.
The decision to run these special trains and extend existing services is a testament to Northern Railway’s commitment to passenger convenience and its ability to adapt to fluctuating travel demands. By augmenting capacity and ensuring wider accessibility, the railway administration is poised to play a crucial role in enabling a hassle-free festive season for countless travelers heading to and from the important pilgrimage site of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.
