A tourist from West Bengal has gone missing from the Teetwal area, situated close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The disappearance has triggered an extensive manhunt, with officials investigating the discovery of what they allege is a fake Aadhaar card belonging to the missing individual. The development has added a layer of complexity to the search operation.
The missing tourist has been identified as 38-year-old Sanjay Sardar, a resident of Kolkata. He was last seen on Saturday after reportedly leaving behind his Aadhaar card and other personal effects at a guest house in Teetwal. Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that Sardar had arrived in the Tangdhar region alone and had secured the necessary permissions to visit the area from the Kralpora police station prior to his disappearance.
Local authorities in Teetwal initiated the missing person report, prompting a swift response from law enforcement agencies who commenced a search for Sardar. Officials involved in the investigation have utilized cellphone tracking technology in an effort to locate the missing tourist. Their efforts have reportedly pinpointed Sardar’s mobile phone as being active in the Chenani area, which lies within the Udhampur district along the crucial Jammu-Srinagar highway. This discovery has expanded the geographical scope of the search operation, indicating that Sardar may have traveled a significant distance from where he was last seen.
The circumstances surrounding Sardar’s disappearance are currently under scrutiny.
