Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the first arrest occurred late Sunday evening in the Bari Brahmana area of Samba district. A police patrol intercepted a motorcycle being ridden by the 17-year-old, who was traveling from Balole Khad towards JDA Colony. During a routine search, officers discovered 3.36 grams of heroin concealed in his possession. The police spokesman confirmed that the contraband, along with the motorcycle, was confiscated. A case has been registered against the juvenile under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Following his apprehension, the teenager was presented before the competent authority and subsequently remanded to the observation home in RS Pura, Jammu, pending further investigation and legal proceedings.
In a parallel operation, the Kathua district also witnessed a significant drug bust. According to the police spokesman, two individuals identified as narcotic smugglers were arrested in the Billawar area. The arrests took place during a vehicle checking drive at Galak, where authorities seized approximately 23 grams of heroin. The spokesman identified the apprehended smugglers as Pawan Dev Singh, a resident of Majalta in Udhampur district, and Naresh Singh, who hails from Makwal-Ramkot in Kathua district. Both individuals were taken into custody, and a case has been filed against them under the NDPS Act. The police have indicated that investigations are underway to ascertain the source of the drugs and their intended distribution network, highlighting the persistent challenge of drug smuggling in the border regions of Jammu and Kashmir.
