Kulgam, May 2: A new primary school building was inaugurated in Zambalnard, DH Pora area of Kulgam district, marking a step forward for education in the region. Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, presided over the ceremony, emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure across Jammu and Kashmir.

The Minister highlighted that education remains a top priority, with ongoing efforts focused on upgrading infrastructure, ensuring quality teaching, and improving learning outcomes in educational institutions. According to the Minister, access to quality education is essential for a progressive society, and the new school building will strengthen the educational framework in the area, encouraging higher enrolment and retention of students. Minister Itoo stated that the government is committed to bridging developmental gaps and ensuring that no area remains underserved, and projects like these are a reflection of the government’s resolve to bring governance closer to the people. The Zumbalnad–Baidjahalan road project is expected to significantly improve connectivity, ease transportation challenges, and boost local economic activities. Improved road infrastructure is considered essential for ensuring access to essential services like education, healthcare and others.

During the visit, the Minister also held a Public Darbar at Baidjahalan and interacted directly with local residents. Minister Itoo listened to various public grievances and other issues on aspects like education, healthcare, and infrastructure, assuring them timely redressal of genuine concerns. The concerned officers were directed to take prompt action on the issues highlighted by the public, highlighting the importance of responsive and accountable governance. The Minister reiterated that public outreach programs like these are vital for strengthening trust between the government and citizens.

Minister Itoo emphasized that the government is firmly committed to citizen-centric governance. “Public Darbars provide an important platform for people to voice their concerns and for the administration to respond effectively,” she said. The event was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, senior officers of district administration Kulgam, other officers and a large number of locals.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts to improve educational infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir.
