Article 370 Abrogation Spurs Development, Boosts Confidence in J&K, Says Jitendra Singh

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh has asserted that the abrogation of Article 370 has revitalized development efforts in Jammu and Kashmir and significantly altered the public’s outlook. Speaking at a training camp organized under the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Mahabhiyan–2026 in Lakhanpur, Kathua district, Singh emphasized the transformative impact of the decision.

Dr. Singh stated that the removal of Article 370 has not only expedited developmental progress in J&K but has also fostered a sense of belonging among the people, ensuring they feel like equal citizens of India. This, he believes, has led to increased self-confidence, self-esteem, and a resurgence of aspirations throughout the region. As per information available with TahirRihat.com, Singh highlighted the accomplishments of young individuals from J&K in various fields across the nation, attributing their success to overcoming previous limitations and anxieties.

Recalling the legislative process surrounding Article 370, the Minister conveyed a sense of privilege in witnessing a historical event that initiated a transformative era for the region. He characterized Article 370 as being in opposition to democratic principles and alleged that it facilitated exploitation by certain vested interests. Dr. Singh elaborated on how the special status had hindered the implementation of reforms, pointing out that the abolition of interviews for numerous government positions, which was implemented nationwide in 2016, could not be applied in Jammu and Kashmir due to Article 370.

The Minister also addressed the issue of perceived regional discrimination in previous years, highlighting the tangible positive changes now being experienced by the population. Reflecting on the governance journey since 2014, Dr. Singh stated that India has transitioned from an environment of pessimism, negativity, and corruption to one characterized by optimism, development, and nation-building. He further added that India’s global standing and value have significantly improved over the past 12 years.

Detailing key development initiatives in Kathua and other regions of the Union Territory, Dr. Singh mentioned the proposed Biotech Park in Kathua, which is expected to support approximately 25 entrepreneurs and generate employment opportunities. He also noted that Kathua district is home to three of the 14 medical colleges established in J&K.

Dr. Singh emphasized the establishment of two AIIMS institutions in the Union Territory, highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special attention to the region, which he said had been neglected under previous administrations. Regarding sports infrastructure, he revealed ongoing efforts to develop an international stadium at Hiranagar on nearly 300 kanal of land, with discussions underway with the J&K administration regarding land transfer.

Dr. Jitendra Singh commended the success of the Aroma Mission in J&K, emphasizing its role in creating substantial opportunities for livelihood generation and entrepreneurship. He affirmed that the current government has completed several projects that had been pending for many years. Furthermore, he announced that a 3,000-MW power project proposed in Kishtwar is expected to become one of the country’s largest power plants, promising to significantly boost the region’s energy infrastructure. The Minister concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to sustained development and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
