Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary convened a critical review meeting in Nowshera, Rajouri, on Thursday to meticulously assess the progress of ongoing restoration efforts and emergency response mechanisms following recent flash floods. During the extensive departmental review, Deputy Chief Minister Choudhary emphasized the urgent need for accelerated restoration of vital public services, including roads, drinking water supply, and electricity. Earlier in the proceedings, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Nowshera, Pritam Lal Thapa, provided a detailed briefing on the extent of damage caused by the flashfloods. According to the briefing, the floods resulted in significant losses to life and property. The damage encompassed schools, houses, standing crops, wells, and other critical public infrastructure. The ADC also highlighted the specific impact on Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) roads, health institutions, and infrastructure managed by the Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, and Jal Shakti Departments. The extent of the damage underscores the severity of the event and the considerable effort required for recovery.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner further informed the meeting that dry rations have been distributed to all affected families.
