The Border Roads Organisation’s Project Vijayak commenced its 16th Raising Day festivities with a significant motorcycle rally traversing the Union Territory of Ladakh. The event, which began on Sunday, saw 51 riders embark on a journey from the Project Vijayak Memorial in Kargil to the high-altitude Sapi La Pass. This expedition serves as a prelude to the official Raising Day commemoration scheduled for September 21.
Retired Colonel VK Oberoi initiated the rally from the memorial, with the contingent proceeding towards Sapi La, a pass situated at an elevation of 14,337 feet. The gathering at the flag-off ceremony included prominent military and civilian figures. Among those present were Brigadier Sarit Prakash, Deputy General Officer Commanding of the 8 Mountain Division; Brigadier Rahul Oberoi, Chief Engineer of Project Vijayak; and Brigadier Ashish Joshi, Commander of the 121 Infantry Brigade. Personnel from the Army, Project Vijayak, and civilian participants also joined the event.

The Chief Engineer also noted considerable improvements in the specifications and standards applied to National Highways in the area, with several ambitious tunnel projects currently in various stages of development.
