J&K Security Transformation: LG Sinha Highlights 780 Terrorists Eliminated Since 2020

Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a significant security transformation, with 780 terrorists eliminated since 2020, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated on Saturday. He asserted that the Union Territory is witnessing a historic shift in its security landscape, attributing this progress to the government’s unwavering zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and separatist networks.

Addressing an event commemorating Jammu and Kashmir Foundation Day, Sinha emphasized that the prevailing peace in the region is a result of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist organizations and their support systems. Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the administration’s strategy has effectively crippled terror networks, allowing for the restoration of normal life across Jammu and Kashmir. The Lieutenant Governor further highlighted the cessation of local recruitment into militant ranks and the eradication of stone-pelting incidents as key indicators of this transformation.

The crackdown on narco-terrorism remains a priority, with authorities intensifying their actions against drug trafficking networks. This year alone, thousands of drug smugglers and peddlers have been arrested, their illicit assets attached, and drug-funded properties demolished. Sinha indicated that individuals who profited from separatism and terrorism are being exposed, and the populace of Jammu and Kashmir has largely embraced peace, progress, and national integration. The Foundation Day’s observance coincided with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a figure whose vision of national unity continues to inspire the country, Sinha noted.

The developments of 2019, including the abrogation of Article 370, were described as a pivotal milestone in the region’s journey towards integration, equality, and development. Sinha stated that this event fundamentally altered the course of history, reinforcing the spirit of national integration, equality, and inclusive development. Over the past several years, Jammu and Kashmir has seen an expansion of opportunities for its citizens and a strengthening of democratic institutions. The implementation of grassroots democratic structures and the successful conduct of Assembly elections were cited as measures that have enhanced public participation and accountability.

The abrogation of Article 370, according to Sinha, has liberated ordinary citizens from decades of fear and granted them access to rights previously denied. Jammu and Kashmir is now emerging as a model for peace, development, and good governance. Looking ahead, Sinha stressed the importance of building a future founded on peace and equal opportunities, with progress in Jammu and Kashmir guided by development and social inclusion. He articulated that the region’s future lies in the light of peace, not the shadow of terror; in equal opportunities, not behind walls of discrimination; and in the momentum of progress, not stagnation.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that terrorism, separatism, and stone-pelting have been supplanted by democracy, development, and increased public participation following the removal of Article 370. He underscored that enduring unity is contingent upon justice and public trust, urging both institutions and citizens to collaborate in fortifying good governance, compassion, and inclusive growth within the Union Territory.
