Ladakh’s residents now have a distinct Aadhaar identity, with “Ladakh” replacing “Jammu & Kashmir” in their Aadhaar records. This follows the region’s separation from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, when it was established as a separate union territory.
The change in Aadhaar records addresses a significant concern for Ladakh residents.
