A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Anantnag district has been booked by the police on charges of cheating and fraud. The case was registered following a written complaint lodged by Waheed Ahmad Itoo, a resident of Hassan Noor in Aishmuqam, who is currently residing at the Government Degree College Boys Hostel in Khanabal. According to the complaint filed by Itoo, the accused, Aabid Hussain Nengroo, who serves as the BJP’s district general secretary in Anantnag, allegedly used his political influence to dupe him. Nengroo is accused of promising Itoo the job of a special police officer and securing permission for him to install tents in Pahalgam during the Amarnath Yatra.
