Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the Bollywood icon, has once again graced the Cannes Film Festival with her presence, making a striking appearance in a sculptural blue gown created by Indian designer Amit Aggarwal. The actress, a long-standing global brand ambassador for L’Oreal Paris, has been a fixture at Cannes since 2003, consistently captivating audiences with her fashion choices and poise.
On Friday, Aishwarya greeted the assembled photographers with a traditional ‘namaste’ as she walked the red carpet. Information reaching TahirRihat.com suggests that she also shared a moment with fellow L’Oreal ambassador and actress Eva Longoria, posing for pictures together. The pair attended the screening of “The Birthday Party” (Histoires De La Nuit), a film starring Monica Bellucci and vying for the prestigious Palme d’Or.
Aishwarya’s gown, named Luminara, was described as a couture piece designed to capture the essence of light in motion. The design sought to translate light into energy, movement, and force through its sculptural construction and detailed craftsmanship. The actress complemented her ensemble with a shimmering dupatta, soft, loose curls, pink-toned makeup, red lipstick, and diamond-studded jewelry featuring blue stones.
Later in the evening, Aishwarya changed into a pastel pink gown from Sophie Couture, featuring floral detailing and a flowing sheer cape, for the “Lights On Women’s Worth” event. Longoria also attended this event, along with Ariana Greenblatt, Amy Jackson, and other notable figures. Aishwarya was accompanied by her 14-year-old daughter Aaradhya Bachchan, who wore a satin red gown with a shimmering cape.
According to Daily Excelsior, Aaradhya’s appearance marked a notable moment on the international red carpet, although she has accompanied her mother to Cannes events in previous years. Aishwarya’s arrival at the film and fashion gala followed weeks of speculation that began on May 10, when L’Oreal Paris released a promotional video showing campaign visuals being displayed on a hotel facade in Cannes ahead of the festival. The short clip featured Alia Bhatt, Viola Davis, Eva Longoria, and Helen Mirren, but Aishwarya was not included, leading to questions about her absence across Instagram and X. (Daily Excelsior reported).
When a follower questioned L’Oreal about Aishwarya’s whereabouts, pointing out that Cannes was a rare opportunity to see her, the brand responded, “Year after year, Cannes after Cannes, she never misses.” Aishwarya and Aaradhya departed for Cannes on Thursday and were photographed by paparazzi at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. (PTI reported).
