Srinagar – In a concerted effort to expedite the execution of key fiscal initiatives, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah presided over a follow-up meeting at the Civil Secretariat. The primary aim was to accelerate the implementation of budget announcements and ensure the prompt delivery of welfare measures to the people of Jammu & Kashmir. This session marked the second round of meetings focused on the 2026-27 budget implementations.
At the commencement of the meeting, Shailendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Finance, briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of various budget announcements across different departments, as reported in progress submissions. Kumar provided a detailed overview of the financial measures and their respective stages of advancement.

Each department highlighted their achievements and challenges in realizing the budget’s objectives.
During the intensive deliberations, Chief Minister Abdullah issued clear directives to expedite implementation processes, enhance coordination among departments, and ensure strict adherence to established timelines. He emphasized the necessity of a cohesive and synchronized approach to achieve the desired outcomes within the stipulated time frame. He also announced plans for another review in June to assess further progress on the budget announcements, underscoring the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency.

The meeting saw the attendance of key government figures, including Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary; Ministers Sakina Itoo, Javed Rana, Javid Dar, and Satish Sharma; Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; and Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Dheeraj Gupta. The presence of these high-ranking officials demonstrated the government’s unified commitment to the successful implementation of the budget, alongside Administrative Secretaries, senior officers of the Finance Department, heads of departments, and other concerned officials.
