A controversy has ignited in Jammu and Kashmir after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allegedly circulated ‘missing’ posters of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on social media. The posters, shared by the BJP’s J&K unit, mockingly seek information about Abdullah, claiming he has been “missing for the past 10 days.” The incident has triggered strong reactions from the National Conference (NC), with party leaders denouncing the BJP’s actions.
The BJP’s criticism comes amid unconfirmed reports that the former Chief Minister is currently outside Jammu and Kashmir, allegedly on a personal visit. The senior Abdullah also dismissed rumors of a potential split within his party’s alliance with the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir. “I think it is our enemies who are saying all this. The alliance is there. Nothing will happen,” he asserted.
Farooq Abdullah addressed concerns regarding the ongoing fuel supply crisis, expressing hope that the crisis in West Asia would soon find resolution. “I hope the war between Iran and the US will stop, and God willing, we will get out of these difficulties,” he said, highlighting the interconnectedness of global events and their local impact.
The NC president also commented on the recent demolition of homes belonging to Gujjar and Bakerwal families in Jammu’s Sidhra area, clarifying that neither his party nor the state government was involved. He stated that the Lieutenant Governor’s office had carried out the demolitions, and an investigation is currently underway. He elaborated that such actions weren’t limited to Sidhra alone but were also occurring in other parts of Jammu, affecting the Gujjar community. He further expressed concern that authorities might not fully appreciate the historical role of these communities as sympathizers along the borders.
