Jammu: A Pakistani national who inadvertently crossed into Indian territory in the Jammu sector has been repatriated back to Pakistan. Officials confirmed that Nazir Sadhir, a resident of Luni Pundra village in Sialkot, Pakistan, was handed over to Pakistani Rangers by the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday. The handover took place at the Golpattan Border Out-Post area along the International Border.
Sadhir was apprehended by BSF personnel on September 3 in the Kanachak area of Jammu, shortly after he had entered Indian territory from across the border. Subsequent questioning revealed that Sadhir was from a Pakistani border village and had mistakenly crossed the frontier. Information reaching Tahir Rihat suggests that the BSF initiated contact with their Pakistani counterparts following the apprehension. A flag meeting was subsequently held between the BSF and Pakistan Rangers, culminating in the repatriation of the individual.
In a separate incident in the Arnia area on the outskirts of Jammu, six individuals were arrested on Monday, with authorities recovering a pistol and several sharp-edged weapons from their possession. Officials stated that the arrested individuals are residents of Bishnah and are alleged members of the Khouf Gang. The gang is accused of threatening a local resident of Kool Kalan, identified as Ashwani Kumar, on September 3 by brandishing a pistol and ‘tokkas,’ which are described as sharp-edged weapons. Acting on a complaint filed by Kumar, the police launched an investigation that led to the apprehension of the six accused. The recovered items include one pistol with a magazine, three live rounds, and five ‘tokkas.’ Further investigations are underway to determine if the arrested individuals are involved in other criminal activities.
Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at the residence of Adeel Majeed Rather, an individual accused in a ‘white-collar’ terror case, in Qazigund. The searches, which lasted for approximately an hour, are reportedly connected to a Delhi blast that occurred in November of the previous year, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries. Rather was apprehended in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, on November 7 last year. His arrest was linked to the display of threatening posters in Srinagar city, which subsequently led to the unraveling of a ‘white-collar’ terror module involving several doctors. Rather’s arrest preceded the November 10 blast near the Red Fort in Delhi by three days. Further details regarding the NIA’s searches are awaited.
In Kishtwar, National Conference Member of Parliament Mian Altaf visited the family of a minor tribal girl who recently died during a pregnancy termination. The girl was allegedly raped by her school teacher in a remote village in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district. The investigation into this case was transferred to the Crime Branch on August 29, and to date, ten individuals, including the alleged perpetrator, have been arrested. An NC spokesperson reported that MP Altaf visited the bereaved family at their residence in Gurinal village to offer condolences. He also met the victim’s father, who is currently admitted to the District Hospital Kishtwar, expressing concern for his health and assuring the family of comprehensive support. The MP pledged to pursue the matter with the relevant authorities.
